Why Sandhill Sports?
Sandhill Sports takes its name from the Sandhill Crane, a bird recognized for its endurance, devotion, and commitment to moving forward together. The crane represents the athlete's journey: the discipline to keep going, the courage to rise higher, and the strength found in community. That meaning shapes our values and what we are creating.
Who Are We
Sandhill Sports was started by Jack and Fiona, a married couple who met joining the triathlon club at UC Davis. Fiona was brand new to the sport; Jack had been racing since high school. They trained together, both chasing how far they could take it.
Jack was born in Suzhou, China, and got his start with support from Natwin, a wheel company that had accumulated years of expertise supporting the Chinese national track cycling team. When Natwin began building complete bikes in 2022 under the name Lykos Cycling, they were quick to sponsor Jack and Fiona with bikes and equipment, the same Lykos frames and Natwin wheels Sandhill Sports now distributes in the U.S. Jack placed 5th in the Chinese Youth Games and raced the Continental Cup circuit for the Shanghai team in 2025. Fiona took 3rd at USAT Nationals in Milwaukee, has consistently placed top 10 in sprint draft-legal races, and competed in NCAA Division I Triathlon.
Both are still racing, with their sights on more World Triathlon starts and 70.3s. They live in Clermont, Florida, with their cat Allie, who dabbles in bike mechanics.
They started Sandhill Sports for a gap they lived through themselves: the stretch between deciding to get serious about the sport and actually getting your breakthrough result. Most brands sponsor athletes who've already arrived. Sandhill wants to grow with riders on the way there, because the right support in that stretch can mean a real jump in where you can go.
